Project Description

The two combined projects for SCL, Residential (Surrey Lane) and Education (SJBC), were challenging as they ran concurrently. This however was eased through good pre-planning and management techniques.

The College (SJBC) was a fit-out package for the installation of doors (inc. side screens), acoustic Windows, window boards, skirting, and timber cladding. Again the timber cladding was a challenge and was more difficult due to the requirement of hidden fixings and the vast size of the elevations. Each elevation also was a different distance away for the support wall due to services running behind. Getting the correct fixing detail was a challenge as it required different fixing build ups on each elevation. We however overcame this problem by gaining expert advice through cladding support fixing suppliers, who were able to provide the correct bracketry system. This allowed SCL to complete the cladding and it became one of the main external features of the building and the client was very pleased with the finished product.
