Project Description

Extreme Photonics Applications Centre (EPAC) will house specialist plasma-based accelerators using lasers, producing advanced X-ray sources. This project was a new build in the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus and our package included timber doorsets, associated ironmongery, MDF skirting, IPS duct / cubicles, vanity units to WCs, Teapoints & column casings.

The Column Casings were a feature item to the entrance. They were constructed from High Pressure Laminate (HPL); 10mm thick and pre-formed, reaching heights of 11m. This meant our operatives has to be IPAF trained to use the M.E.W.P. (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) to reach this height. Due to the column casings penetrating structural steel, all fixings had to be coated in fire retardant paint.

Quality workmanship that the principal contractor was particularly impressed with was the installation of timber and metal doorsets, meaning Swift Crafted had a minimal number of snags and left the client pleasantly satisfied.

Swift Crafted also carried out additional works at the local community hall aiding Mace’s considerable construction scheme (CCS); installing a teapoint with all white goods and an access serving hatch. This will be used as a soup kitchen for the less fortunate.
